The Lee Turret press is one of my favorites. It does everything well and can be used to reload literally any caliber. I've used the auto index, but have to admit, I don't use it much anymore. You won't be sorry if you buy one. I used a couple of them for over 10 years without any problems. I hardly ever reload 45ACP anymore, so I don't need the turret press so I gave them to my stepson. I now use a Lee Classic Cast press. After 25+ years of reloading the Cast press is the best I've ever used.

I have the 4 hole with auto index.

in it I have my .45 ACP set + factory crimp die.

I first take out the auto index to decap/size/prime all the cases.

after I process about 100 or so cases (or have them all ready like I tend to do) I put in the auto index rod and set aside 50 cases and bullets then I fill my auto disk loader and set to work.

if you get into a rythym its great. I grab a case put it in and pull into the charging die (with auto disk loader) while I pull I am grabbing a bullet out of the box and drop it on top during the down stroke in time to pull for the seating die. then I pull again into the crimp die. I then grab the finished round, drop it into a empty holder and grab another shell while I cycle the press past the sizing/decapping die. by the time I finish that the next shell is in place for charging.

repeat and 100rnds go by real fast.

I had one before going to the dillon 650. It was a giant step up in speed from the single stage I was using.

I used the full function right from the start. I up-graded the auto disk to the pro version, so I could use one measure on different turrets. With the regular auto disk, you have to take all the dies out of the turret to get it off the powder-thru-expander-die. The pro has a slip nut that allows it to be taken off easily. Four pulls of the handle results in a complete round.

It went like this; place empty shell in shellholder, pull down on handle while picking up a primer and placing it in the primer arm, on the down stroke prime that freshly sized shell. Now the turret has indexed to be expanded and charged with powder, upstoke it while reaching for the bullet. On the downstroke, place the bullet on top the shell and upstroke it to seat it. One more stroke into the factory crimp die, it's finished remove and replace with the next one.

Setting up 50 shells/bullets at a time on the bench, with a box of primers, you could easily load 150 an hour.

I also loaded rifle on it, .308 was a bit of chore, the press lacks leverage for sizing. I did a lot of .223 with it, I seperated sizeing and charging powder into 2 operations. Hornady makes a special die used for putting a measure with 7/8 x 14 threads in the turret. Simply raise the shell all the way up into it and operate the charge handle!
