Can someone tell me what the Hornady manual calls for my 300 grain XTP bullets with IMR 4227. These will be shot from a Winchester 94

No! H4227 is not interchangeable with IMR4227. They are different powders that are close to the same burn speed but the characteristics of the two powders are vary different.

As far as load data goes I don't use the XTP bullets and my old Hornady manual doesn't list the XTP bullets at all. (I should probably get a newer manual)
You might get some load data from the Hodgdon website as they do list some of the newer bullets and they list Hodgdon, IMR and Winchester powder data mow that they sell all three.

Hornady 8th has this:

For 44 Rem Mag in the RIFLE section, 300 gr. XTP gets 15.2 to 18.8 grains of IMR-4227, C.O.L. of 1.600".

For pistol data, they call for 17.6 to 19.2 of IMR-4227.

Both sets of data used Hornady brass and Winchester LP primers.

Thanks both of you, does anyone know why the pistol uses more?

It may be that the gap between the cylinder and barrel lowers the pressure in the revolver while the rifle is a closed breach without a gap.

I use 19.5 grns of H110 instead. Always have, works great. Just a thought.
