Data for the 275 grain Speer wouldn't be a bad place to start. Try any of the Speer manuals.

Patrick, I have had excellent results with 400gr 416 A frames in my 416 Rigby. Accuracy at 2415fps is superior (for me)@ or below moa. As for performance I shot a Cape Buff at 25 paces in the front chest and recovered the bullet at the back ribs on the opposite side and it was textbook shape and weighed 372grs. I don't know what else I could ask for.

Patrick. Mike aw pretty mutch tells you what the Swift A-frame is suppose to do. Extreme penetration without shattering. I have taken a few Swedish moose with my .416 Taylor and 400 gr. A-frames. There is no way a Swedish moose will stop a swift A-frame if you shoot a shot in the shoulder. The only one I have seen recovered is from my friends .416 Taylor. He shot a wounded cow from behind. The bullet plowed thru most of the spine and stopped in the shoulder. The other hunters looked in horror on his gun when they had skinned the moose and saw the amount of penetration the bullet delivered The remaining weight was well over 90 %!! I went to 340 gr. Woodleigs and found them more adopted to "Swedish average moose resistance" Stefan.

Patrick, I have use the 250 and 225 Swift on several Safaris and shot lots of game with them..the mushroom perfectly into a very smooth ball and just don't kill as well or leave a good blood trail as I like on smaller plainsgame...On Buffalo, Giraffe, Lion they are an absolute wonder and work great.... My all time choice in the 338 for plainsgame is the 210 Nosler at 3005 FPS up to Eland. This load will work on Eland just fine, but I would prefer the 250 for Eland...The Northfork bullets work very well on everything that I have shot with them and they may be the best yet. ------------------

ricciardelli, good question, .340 weatherby. I've seen them referred to as 280 grain, but received a box the other day and swift labeled them 275, in case I created confusion. the question relates to using this bullet on cape buf. Going to Africa next summer and will take the .340 and a .416 rem. which rifle gets the call may just depend on which way the wind is blowing that day. thanks to all for the responses.

Pat the A-frame is a fabulous bullet, frankly, I think its the best hunting bullet made. I shoot the 225 grn's out of my .338Win and have gotten tremendous results from them. I took a finishing shot on a Big Bull Elk last year. He was already dead but I didnt want him traveling to far, the terrain was brutal. So I took a long shot for me, somehwere over 400yrds. I hit him with that A-frame in front of the shoulder and broke his neck. He was so far away I was able to get my eye back on the scope and watch him react to the bullet. That A-frame just clobbered him, I mean it just squashed him. I once shot a Kudu twice at close range, same bullet/same rifle. The two A-frames both went thru the animal lengthwise, breaking bones and shredding innards. They held together, performed flawlessly, and really ruined that animals day in all respects, all from close range "30yrds" where many an ordinary bullet would have failed. With all the money these hunts cost us it just doesnt pay to skimp on bullets. For anything over the size of deer I would stick to the Partition's or the A-frames.........good luck.........10

Patrick -- I have been shooting the Swift A-Frames with my .340 Wby and .358 STA. I am very pleased with the penetration tests I have put them through, accuracy compares to Nosler Partitions, which in my rifles is very good. I am now trying the Northfork after hearing Ray Atkinson talk about them. They survived my penetration tests with flying colors and the accuracy seem to be as good or maybe a little better. Good Shooting. ------------------
