Well, I'm excited to have a new CZ Safari Classic in .300 H&H on the way... with any luck, it will be here before the week ends.

I'm looking to buy brass for it right now - I've found Remington bulk brass for about $0.59 each, and Norma brass for about $1.54 each...

My question is: is the Norma worth the premium, in either 1) ability to reload it more times than the Remington or 2) consistency/accuracy?

I realize the cheapest route is probably to just reform some .375 H&H brass, but 'd prefer to have the correct headstamp if possible.

Thanks for any input...

I have found that the Norma is a higher grade of brass overall. The consistency of their brass has proven good time after time. The Remington brass will more likely have flaws or packaging damage on them. 300 H&H brass has dried up recently and the only brand available had been Remington. If you can get Norma, you won't be disappointed. The $0.59 each for the Remington is a good price though. Another thing to consider is what the case capacity of each brand is. I know that in other calibers the Remington has a lesser volume than Federal or Norma due to the thickness of the case. This might cause issues in your load you are trying to achieve.

What do you mean that recoil can cause brain damage??

AK, I think Nosler also had some 300 H&H albeit at the $1.50 ea. price.

I also have a 300 H&H, and face the same dilemma.

Why not just get a box of 20 cases of each, and compare the perfomance?

I agree, the Nosler brass is actually the best on the market currently.

I picked up an RCBS trim die for about $25...for some reason the 300 H&H trim die is cheap.
I picked up some once fired 375 H&H brass and ran it into the trim die...perfect cases for experimenting with (and free too).

Norma may not be worth the cost, but the last Remington caes I received recently were VERY soft, and did not last long.

Thanks for all of the input...

I did go ahead and order 100 Remington to try out, as they are cheap! I will probably also pick up a few Norma's to give them a try as well...

I just bought 500 pieces of Remington 300 H&H. I really prefer WW brass (can't find it) and Norma brass. However, the Remington was so much cheaper I ended up going that route. The quality of the Remington brass looked OK. It also has been my experience that the Remington is softer than the Norma. I haven't reloaded it yet, so that's all I know at this point.

Where did you get the Remington brass from (if you don't mind my being so nosy)?

Thanks,

I ordered mine from grafs (www.grafs.com). They seem to be a little slow to ship, but their web site indicates the Remington is in stock right now.

MidwayUSA has the Norma brass in right now (www.midwayusa.com)
