My first question have you done any reloading before do you have a manual.

Most manuals have accuracy loads listed in them.

Is it possible your rifle just doesn't "like" the 120 gr v-max. I have several rifles that shoot one bullet really well but wouldn't shoot others.
Might try another powder, but I would think the IMR 4350 should be in the sweet spot for that case/bullet combination.
I would shoot an Audette ladder with the bullet and see if you find any promising load densities. Then if you do see if you can refine the load.

curious minds ask why are you wanting to shoot a 120gr bullet in a big 7? Varmint hunting? the 120 would be considered a "light for caliber" bullet in a 7-08. In fact, the 139 would be considered a "light for caliber" bullet for a 7mag.

If you have an accurate load with IMR 4350 and Hornady 139 grain bullets, you should use that load. It is unrealistic to think you can use one powder and get an accurate load with any weight of bullet or even with different bullets of the same weight.

My Remington shoots 120-grainers with RL-15 well. Like your rifle, mine "likes" the 4350 / 139-grainer combo...
