Just got a 20-pack of the new .577 3-inch Jamison brass from Huntingtons, so I decided to cobble up a single round with one of my 650-grain Woodleigh soft noses to see if I could in fact load using the Lee .577 Snider dies on hand. For data, I consulted Graeme Wright's nitro-for-black loads in "Shooting hte British Double Rifle" and came up with 100 grains of Varget and a couple of wads cut from gray packing foam. Has anyone one else used these data with this round? What is the current thinking on foam fillers? Frankly, I dislike fillers of any kind, but there's so much room in the .577 case that it makes sense. I am loading for a singleshot built on a Greener Martini action. There is hope, even when your brain tells you there isn’t. – John Green, author | ||
