Just picked up some 200 Nosler Accubonds. Boy, these are long bullets. Anybody shoot them in a 30-06? What powders and results did you get. Looking for a place to start. Thanks

I believe you can use the same data for loading Accubonds that you use for Nosler BT's, since the only difference is the core bonding. So if you have a Nosler manual, just look up the BT load data.....

JAB,

I also have some of 200 gr AccuBonds loaded up in .30-06 that I'm waiting to try. But the weather down here in Houston has been kind of cold and rainy the last few weeks. I just haven't gone to the range to test fire and chrono the rounds. I guess I'm not as tough as you guys up in Alaska! Brrrr....

I'm starting at 52.0 grs of IMR-4350 and will work up to my target max of around 54.0 grs. (W-W brass, WLR primers) My Ruger M77 MkII has a short throat but I was able to seat the bullets out to 3.30". (Stoney Point guage used.) I may also try Reloder-22.

Some years ago Federal had a factory load that used a 200gr Sierra Game King. It was listed at a stated 2550 fps muzzle velocity. So, I'm going to be shooting for 2500-2600 fps with my loads. I'm not one to push things to the limit. If I need more speed than that with this bullet, then I'll use my .300 H&H Mag. (I haven't worked up loads for the .300 H&H with these bullets.)

I see a lot of utility with the 200 gr AccuBond in the .30-06. With this load, I think of it as a little brother to my .375 H&H.

.30-06 -- 200gr bullet SD=.301 at 2500-2600fps
.375 H&H -- 300gr bullet SD=.305 at 2500-2600fps

According to the charts, even at only 2550 fps the trajectory will match a lot of 180gr factory loads.

Just my two cents worth...

eldeguello,

Just FYI: Nosler doesn't make a .308" 200 gr Ballistic Tip.

I'd also give H4831SC a try, as it is a classic powder for the 200-grain Partition.

I've read about serious results with 200 grain bullets.....start with 55 grains of RL22 or IMR 7828 and work up.....velocities of 2,800'/sec in 22" barrels are achievable under some circumstances.....

The .30-06 isn't a pipsqueak!!!!!

I'd try h4831, WXR, or RL22...4350's & Rl19 should work well too though....nice downrange numbers with that sleek 200 grainer!!

I'm hoping these shoot. The down range numers do look impressive. Would be a good "go to" bullet for an Alaska 30-06.

I'm able to get 2570 in my 308 with 200 grain Sierras. These Accubonds have more bearing surface so I'm not sure, but if I could get 2550 in my 308 that would be great.

I hear a 180 Accubond is coming out. Might be better for the 308.

Thanks for the replys.

Shooters Pro Shop also has the .308" 180 gr Nosler AccuBond Seconds available. $13.45 per 50.

http://www.shootersproshop.com/accubond2nds.html

For those that may not know about the Nosler Seconds:
"Nosler Bullet Factory 2nds, are cosmetic blemished bullets. They shoot just the same as the boxed factory 1st bullets, they just aren't as pretty. There are even times they are just over-runs. Try them for yourself! We guarantee for the money you can't find a better bullet. Notice the price difference between the 1sts & 2nds."

in the 06 any of the 4350 type powders are way to fast in order to get the best ballistics by far the best powders are R 22 VV560 NORMA MRP H 4831 WIN WXR VV N165
from these powders vvN165 gave me the best pressure to velocity ratio and i consider this the best powder by far in the 06 with the 200 gn bullet...in my 26 inch 06 i get 2750 fps in the pressure gun we got an honest 2700 fps
with 59 gn of R 22 and vv560 i get 2700 fps with a 200 gn nosler and after 10 shots of the same case the primer pockets are still tight
O K SHOOTER who posts on H.AMERICA at times put out a really great mannual with pressure data/vel and any one who is serious about useing there 06 should have this mannual

Well, so much for that theory! i guess since they make a 260 grain .375 in botth types, I just assumed there was a 200-grain .308 BT also. If there ain't, there outta be!

Btw, I saw Nosler was offering 180 grs Accubond seconds on their website Shooter's Pro Shop - Accubond 2nds

I had actually not seen any of these in 180 grs offered for sale elsewhere?? Maybe I did not look hard enough?? I had been waiting for these, thinking the 200 grs was a tad heavy for the .30-06.

P.S. Edited to say: sorry this information was already posted above. Red face!
