Finally got a chance today to test some different loads using the 230 grain led. I mixed up some with 2400 powder. They were as follows.....20.4, 21.8, and 23.8. I also mixed up so.e using h110. They were....23, 24.5, and 26. First off I want to comment on the crimping issue as there was some discussion about whether I could effectively load hot 230 grain led. I had some bullet creep on only one mixture. Can you guess which load cause the slugs to move? Believe it or not the only slugs that tried creeping out of the cars were the weakest load.a couple of them slid out to the lube groove. None of the other loads tried to sneak out of the cases. Any thoughts on that? Even the loads with 26 grains of h110 stayed put. As far as accuracy goes, I will hafta be more scientific when the weather is warmer. Its cold and snowy here so I didn't drag out the chrony and the bench. Did all my shooting at 35 paces standing with no rest. The most accurate and consistent mixture seemed to be middle of the road 2400. I suspect the hotter loads would group better with condom bullets but every shot today would have killed a deer so they were all decently accurate. The 23 grains of h110 shot considerably high. Everything else was fairly close. I'm looking forward to spring when I can set up my bench and crony and spend a day playing with out freezing. | |||
