Does anyone have any load data for using IMR 7828 in the .300 Weatherby with 165 grain bullets. I want to load 165 grain partitions but IMR only lists 150 and 180gr. bullets for the 300 Weatherby. Steves reloading pages lists loads for 165 grain that seem very high to me. Also, any comments on using 165 grain bullets (partitions/balistic tips)in the 300 Weatherby? I normally use 180's but am trying to get a flatter shooting bullet for long range texas whitetail. Thanks! FYI - I am using a Winchester Model 70 with alot of freebore and am using Remington brass. Alot of this depends on whether you run a weatherby rifle with freebore. Also weatherby brass has more room than rem/wby so some factors can sure come into play. I have a weatherby mark V and can easily run 85.0 and as much as 86.0 under a 180 partition. Maybe this would be a good place to start with your 165's. I;ve heard guys with the remington rifles without freebore have to load a good 3.0 grains lighter than the weatherby rifles. You might want to use a search engine like "google" and put in IMR Powders and you'll get to their recomended loads-- FWIW I've been able to get 3300 fps with 180's and great accuracy and don't really think a 165 will be any flatter with loss of ballistic coefficient. Kraky - I am using a Winchester Model 70 stainless classic with alot of freebore and am using Remington brass. What about 150 gr. bullets? Way to light for texas deer at these velocities? Any advantage trajectory wise over the 180 gr. out to about 400 yards? | |||
