Coyote CallerHornady Light Magnum
Does anyone know the recipe to make the Hornady Light Magnum loads? I would like to load up some of the 140 grn for my 270.

vapodogThe actual powder used is closely guarded by Hornady.
It can be duplicated if you use very slow burning powders and compress a lot.
Frankly.....IT'S NOT WORTH IT!!!
There's no assurance of accuracy with that (or other compacted) load and you're just best advised to work up loads that work well. I like IMR (or Hodgdon's) 4831 for the .270.
Don't be afraid of compressing it and use caution in determining the pressure signs. Gaining 100'/sec is a total waste of time when you're already shooting 140 grainers at 3,000'/sec.

cliffs2It's really very simple. Just go buy a 270wsm and blow right by the Light mag stuff.
