My gun likes 78 grs. of R22 for 2750 in my 24" barrel and shoots one inch or a tad over that as a rule..

My favorite load is 69 grs. of RL-22 and the 300 gr. Woodleigh...

At any rate I have found RL-19 and RL-22 the best powder in the .338 followed by 4831 and 4350.

Bill Dowtin tells me he gets 2500 with the 300 gr. Woodleigh with 76 gr. of H1000, I gotta try that one....

I just bought and starting working with a 338win., it's my first 338win. The rifle is a Browning A-bolt, that I've had the barrel cut down to 23 1/2", it's wearing a 2.5-8x36 Leupold. I loaded up some of the new 225gr Barnes X triple shocks and went to the range yesterday. Heres the load data, new win brass, 70.5gr of reloader 19, cci 250 primer, with a c.o.l. of 3.350. I was a bit disappointed with the velocity, 10 shots averaged 2620fps and the groups weren't that good, anywhere from 2 1/4" with 1 1/4 inch being the best. Anybody worked with the XTS in a 338win? Got a powder or load you'd recommend? I'd like to get atleast 2750fps out of it.
