Stoney Point OAL questions
I'm having trouble getting repeatable measurements with the Stoney Point OAL guage. Any tips on using it?

It's an excellent tool IMHO but does require getting a 'feel' for what's going on. I found another thread that talks about this that you might find useful. It is located at:

I had the same problem until I started following their instructions and using a 1/4" dowel inserted into the muzzle to control the insertion of the bullet to the lands. Now I will usually get all measurements within .001".

Hold the case firmly against the chamber and use consistant pressure against the bullet, BOTH WHILE tightening the set screw.

Use a comparator to measure. About all I can suggest to improve things with the SP. Mine is very accurate, to the thou every time so...?

I posted something else here you might try too.
