G'day all, Im new here, and I have done no reloading till now. I want to start and am in the process of buy gear. I would like to formulate some laods for .375H&H that I can use on small game than it may have been intended for, but retain accuracy. Using Barnes 210gn bullets, what could I make up? can I get high accuracy from underpowered loads?
thanks.

I don't have anything that big in my arsenol.
My advice FWIW--get a couple good loading manuals or a "loadbook for 375 H&H. I'm not sure what powder you are intending on using but DO NOT GO BELOW what you see in the books. That can also cause bad problems do to inconsistant ignition. Maybe someone will chime in here with info but, for sure, that's not a varmit gun!! Good luck d kraky

I don't know which powders you have available to you, but IMR SR4759 is a powder used for reduced loads in big bores. The current Speer manual shows 26.0gr under their 235gr bullet for 1500fps. That is pretty mild for the old .375h&h. Good luck!

Express, I use a cast bullet load in my .375 H&H, consisting of the Lyman 375449 a .38/55 bullet, and 60 grains of H4831. This gives around 1850 feet per second, and is very accurate, cast from an alloy of 9 parts lead and 1 part tin. Using Javelina Alox (NRA formula) lube. Makes shooting very reasonable in cost, allowing a lot of shooting with low recoil. (About like a .30/'06.)

EXPRESS< some additional info. For your reduced velocity loads, if you can use a very slow powder, in an amount which occupies most of the space in the case AND provides the low speeds you want for reduced velocity performance, you can probably produce acceptable accuracy. Accuracy problems with slow loads in large-volume cases happen when using small charges that occupy very little space in the case, resulting in great variation in ignition from shot to shot. Good luck!!
