Hello, new to the forum, I need advise on reloading data for the following calibers/barrels for Thompson Contender

44 magnum 10 inches TC barrel
223 14 inches TC barrel
223 18 inches Bullberry barrel

Also is any particular reloading manual that covers different data on TC?.

Thank you

Welcome,

I don't know of a TC specific load manual. You looking for results with your length barrels or looking to alter pressure? Software like QuickLoad allows you to do both.

A number of manuals have loads for older lower pressure rounds like the 45-70 broken out by action type.

Do a search on the web for TC loads and you will find a vast number. I'm sure searchng here will give you some as well.

Take any user listed load data with a huge grain of salt.

Just playing with a 240gr in a 10" 44mag taking the pressure from the max 36000 to 56000 only gives you 35-50fps gain. Only so much you can do in a 10" barrel

As usual just my $.02

Try getting a Lyman Manual. They list loads for T/C.

Some of the old IMR booklets have TC specific data. Hornady and Speer do also.

What bullets do you plan to shoot. I use 200gr Hornady or Nosler HP bullets with 28grs of H-110 and a mag primer in the 44mag. I use 55gr Hornady SX or SP bullets with 27-28grs of Win 748 and mag primers in the 223. I also use benchrest powder and 40gr Hornady V-Max or Nosler BT bullets in the 223.
Tests have shown the load with the highest speed in a longer barrel will give the most speed out of the shorter barrel. I have also found that to be true over my chrono.

HFL--You are planning on shooting enough to warrant reloading. You are going to be doing target shooting. Sounds like enough shooting to consider casting your own bullets. Get a Lyman reloading manual and it has lots of good info on bullet casting as well as reloading data for cast bullets.
