I dont know how many of use out there still use this cartridge, but I am looking for some loads, and am having some difficult times. I want to load rounds for my Grandfather's Win M94 32 special. I am looking for a accurate round out to 100yds max for whitetail and maby a bear sometime down the line. The powders I have available that would be practicle are, IMR 4064 and IMR 3031 (also have RE22 and H4831 that i use in my 7mm). Please any comments or suggestions are greatly appreciated. I have the Sierra manual, and i cant find data for the 32 anywhere. Some ppl told me that i can use the same data that the 30-30 uses. I dont know...please let the suggestions flow. Thanx in advance. Ryan

Hi Ryan. The Lyman 47th ed. manual has data, but I'd be a bit leery of using it. It's old enough that it could have been worked up using Du Pont's version if IMR 3031 and 4064. The newer stuff as made by IMR is faster burning due to a change in one of the components used to make the powder.
Anyway, here are some start and max loads from the latest Hornady manual for the .32 Win. Spl. To answer your other question first, yes, you can use 30-30 Win. data in the .32 Win.
Data is for the 170 gr. Hornady flat point #3210

Powder start gr. vel. FPS Max. gr. Vel. FPS
3031 26.1 1700 32.8 2200
4895 29.8 1800 35.5 2200
4064 28.6 1700 35.5 2200
4320 29.4 1700 36.9 2200
I imagine these were worked up with the lastest versions of IMR powders, but be careful.
I added the other powders in case you wanted to try them out.

Redneck, My father settled on a load of 31 gr of IMR3031 under a 170gr Hornady FP back in the early/mid 60s for my grandfathers M94 and I`m still useing it with the same load today. I don`t know if there is a better choice but both of my brothers and I dropped our 1st deer with the above load in this rifle, it works! I haven`t shot the rifle in a while but the last time I took it out it still shot 2.5" @100yd for 5 rounds useing a williams FP peep and my tri focaled eyes.

Redneck, I acquired my M1894 rifle (26" octagon, circa 1913) in the middle sixties. I still use it and load for it with an old Lee Loader that I bought shortly after I got the rifle. For all these years I've been using 31 grains of IMR4895 and Hornaday 170gr flatnoses. Nice load, mild and accurate. Have fun.
