what would be the best reload for .308 for 600 yards

This would depend upon several things.
What type of rifle/operating system.
What type of shooting, paper targets vs. live game.
Then there is load development.

For paper, the Sierra 168 gr. BTHP matchking is the go to 1st bullet. If your rifle can't shoot this one reasonably accurately, you likely have a rifle problem. Velocities of about 2500 2550 fps for gas guns and 2600 2650 fps for bolt guns should run well. Note these velocities are near max in many rifles so approach with due caution.

i was thinking about going with a heavy vaeermit contour 28" 1-12twist and don't know which stock yet .i reload so was thinking of going with lapua brass br2 primmer varget seirra 168 gran bthp. What do you think?

I think if you build that rifle, it should produce excellent results, at 600 yds.. And if you eventualy find yourself wanting to shoot farther yet, you may wish you chose a chambering with less drop and more oomph way out there. But for 600 yds, a 308 is fantastic and has lots of perks. There may be more powders currently on the market built around the .308 than any other round, and it is easy to build a decent load. 308's are not fussy. In my experience, 165-170 grs is the optimum bullet weight for long range 308 shooting.

Bullet choice will depend on what you want to shoot with it. There's lots of great choices out there. But bullet selection is rarely a one-size-fits-all proposition.

My twist rate of choice would be 1 in 10 . Especially if I were thinking of Long Range target shooting, as your barrel length suggests. Then a Sierra 175 gr. HPBT matchking would do better for out past 1000 yds..
Otherwise your starting point seems good.
Talk to your gunsmith about proper throating for these loads.

I would say the same thing. IMHO the 1-12 limits one to the lighter Palma type bullets and the 1-11 is a compromise. Why trust in a longer barrel (read higher velocity) to keep something like the Sierra 168/175 stable when the 1-10 twist will do all of that without reservation? I see no penalty whatsoever in choosing a 1-10 twist.

If it's just 600 and in that you will be shooting, 168's and 175's are fine. Varget, RL15, 4064, etc will all work well. If you want to stretch the 308 to 1000, shoot 190's. It sounds like too much, but believe me, it's hard to get the 168's to hang above supersonic at 1000. 175's do OK, but the wind blows them around quite a bit. 190's with a rather stiff charge of RL15 out of that 28" barrel will make you happy. Been there, done it, they just work. You won't get them over 2700 fps (and you don't need to) with that barrel, but they got enough ass to hold velocity to 1K.....and they don't get moved around AS MUCH in a unobserved wind change. 1-10" twist goes without saying.
