I had a guy load me some 30-06 Bullets as follows: 150grn Nosler Ballistic Tip Winchester Large Rifle Primer. 61.5 grn of Reloader 19 Rem. 30-06 700 BDL 22" barrel. Could anyone tell me what My Muzzle Velocity should be? Thanks, God Bless.

Really? I know nothing about reloading physics but Federal vital shok with nosler BT is showing 2910 muzzle velocity... And I know they don't load 61.5 grain in theirs... I thought I could be pushing 3000 or better...

a quick pass on quickload shows 2936 fps, also says be careful, near max pressures, and 10.6% compressed be careful, good luck

I just looked at LoadData.com and that should be around 2950+- depending on barrel length.

This data is directly from Alliant's website. They show 62 grains RL-19 as max. It don't surprise me at all that there is conflicting data. Chronoghaph is the best way to know at this juncture but clearly higher velocity seems to be the opinions. /////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// "Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance, and the gospel of envy, its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery." The only way to be sure would be the chronograph. According to the Nosler #6 guide that load would be 2982 in a 24"barrel, but even that would vary from barrel to barrel, etc.

You might check a reliable reloading manual or three. Probably not exact, but, close.

Considering that's the same load I use, I can tell you that I average 2995fps out of my rifle, your results will be different, much different than mine are The above estimate of 2700 wouldn't be out of line with what you could be running. IOW the chamber/barrel difference between 2 rifles can easily exceed 250fps with the same batch of ammo. Hell, I GAINED 270fps by having 1" cut off the breach end and re-cutting the chamber to tighter tolerances

My Nosler Reloading book No4 shows 61.5gr of RL 19 to be their max load for a velocity of 2982fps. They also shot it to me an accurate load in their barrel, a 24", 1 in 10 twist. Hope that helps. DOUBLE RIFLE SHOOTERS SOCIETY

I have some re19 that seems really slow no matter what I use it in. It almost seems a near twin to re22. Anyhow in my 23" tikka with 150 hornady sst's 60.5 clocked 2820 fps. If you really want to bring an 'o6 to life get some re17. I've pushed 150's to 3100fps and in general get top velocity and accuracy with re17 and almost any grain bullet.

If you want to know what it really is doing for velocity spend some greenbacks on a chronograph. They can be had for less than $100. Takes the guess work out of the load process. It's worth it! I would NOT USE some one else's reloads in my rifle unless load data is reliable & velocity is chronographed. PERIOD! Please be safe when starting our reloading AND for the rest of your life! Good shooting. "When the wind stops....start rowing. When the wind starts, get the sail up quick."

LOL... He knows what he's doing, they were my casings I had been saving up, I just haven't got to talk to him about the technical specs.... Thanks for the replies guys, appreciated.

When it calls for a cartridge going off next to my body, it's either new ammo or reloaded by myself in person. I have many friends that want me to reload for them to save money. I will teach them to reload and do their own. Much safety to learn about before one starts dropping powder to go faster.
