47.5 H4350/WLR primer/R-P Case/145 Speer Flat Base @ 2.795" o'all (compressed load).
Rem 700, 22" barrel, 2,800 FPS +/-.

I've taken two PA whitetails, approx. 160 - 180 lbs live weight (seems a lot heavier after dragging them over a few mountains [Smile] ) each taken at 90 degree angle. One shot each. One at 35 yards, one at 50 yards +/-. Entry roughly mid chest, destroyed heart/lungs. One exited with probably 1-1/2" diam exit hole, one didn't.

I used to have an older Remington model 7 in 7mm-08. It had the 18" (or so) barrel. The Remington green box 140 grain 7mm-08 ammo cronographed at 2750 fps average for 10 rounds. Did take it hunting but didn't ever see anything worth shooting when I had it with me. Sold it to a friend of mine who wanted it a lot more than I did. Very good rifle. I got it second hand, and someone had put a timmy triggger on it.

I use both H-414 and H-4895. One of these two powders will perform well with about any bullet I have used in either of two 7-08s I curently have, the latter powder typicaly works best with lighter bullets, CCI LR primers and Remington brass.
Bullet selection is not a problem with the 7mm caliber since there is such a variety to choose from and I havn't found the 7-08 to be very picky about what it will shoot. The Hornady 139gr. Interlock has proven itself to give good performance at 7-08 velocities for everything from varmints to deer size game out to 250 yards but I have currently been "testing" the on game performance of the Speer 130gr. spitzer under the advice of a friend with some real good results so far.
I know this is not the exact load info. you were looking for but I feel reasonably certain that if you choose a bullet for your application from 130gr. up with a 1-9 twist barrel and use the powders, brass, and primers I listed you will get very good results with a little load development.

I have a Rem 700 7mm-08 with a 20" barrel. I have been playing with the Hornady 139gr. SST's. My rifle likes 43.5grs. of Varget. It shoots .6" groups. I have taken 3-150lb. hogs, 1 javelina, and a couple of blackbuck does while guiding. All were one-shot kills between 125-200 yards. I am also getting good results with 140gr. Partitions using 42.0grs. of W-748. It is shooting under an inch. I have not had this load in the field yet. Just see what your rifle likes. Some suggested powders to try: Varget, W-748, W-760, R-15. I use Win. brass and WLR primers.

Good Hunting,

Bob
