Does anyone have any load data for the Nosler Balistic Tip 100grain in 6.5 x 55?

UKreloader I have a load that is very accurate in my rifle: Lapua cases, federal primer, 50 grains of Reloader 19. it shots into about .6 of an inch. 22 inch barrel MV is 2950 fps. It is seated waaay back from the lands as the rifle has quite a long throat. I no longer use this combination for deer as I found the meat damage unacceptable. A good fox, vermin load IMO. I suppose I could slow it down and reduce the damage, but I have sweet loads in 125gr PT and 160gr RN for things I intend to eat. What are you shooting with it? Thanks for your reply. I bought some to try primarily as a fox load but depending on how they perform was considering using them on Roe / Munty.

Don't know the FPS but I have put up to 51.5 grains of 2209 in them. I usally run 49.5 for about 1 inch groups. I've found that they explode apart, I can't recall any actually holding together. I've shot a shit load of goats from 10-50kg with them. They drop-em and some even kill like the Hammer of Thor, but I would not shoot anything heavy boned or in weight, there just to explosive

I reload for a CZ 550 LUX in 6.5X55 with 24 inch bbl and work up from 47.5 to 50.0 grs of W760 at a COL of 3.010. Start velocity is 3101 and top is 3306 fps. If you have a MIL type 6.5 work up to 3100 and stop there. Accuracy is sub MOA when I do my part and use strong optics. Note that the Nosler BT is really spinning in the fast twist of the 6.5 at these velocities and will blow up a deer. The Nosler 100 gr Partition is better.

I once read somewhere that faster powders like IMR 3031 and Varget work wonderfully with these lighter bullets in 6.5x55, yielding excellent velocity and accuracy. I use H4831SC with heavy 140-grain match bullets in that cartridge, so I'd definitely go to a faster powder for 100-grain bullets.

I have a Remington 700 Classic in 6.5x55. I load 41.0gr. of IMR4895 in it with the Nosler 100gr Bal.Tip. It gives me a MV of 2700fps. and is loaded out to 3.001". 5 shot groups at 100yds. print a group of .948". I no longer use this load as I've switched to Lapua Scenar bullets in 108, 123 and 139grs. pushed along by VV550 and 560 powders. The accuracy is much better with these Finish components. All in all I find the 6.5x55 to be about the best rifle caliber I own. Best wishes. Cal - Montreal

Was just playing with that last week. I like mid range powders, IMR 4064, IMR 4895, RL 15, H 380. I did see something that listed 47.5 grains of IMR 4064. Out of a 22 inch barrel Ruger that chronographed at 3350 to 3375 with a 100 grain Ballistic Tip. The bullet was seated out as far out as there was still some part of the brass to hold unto the bullet. Accuracy in a 1 in 8 twist Ruger was excellent. I also load 43.5 grains of 4064 in my 260 Remington, which also chronographs at 3350s fps. It was a load I originally got from Nosler, before they came out with their latest book. Good luck!

Well I use this bullet a LOT on muntjac roe and fallow. 42gr VVN150 Rem brass WLR primer COL about 2.95 or so 3000fps Has yielded .26MOA for 3 shots at 100 and 200 (witnesses by Deerdogs) yards This is the Nosler max book load which was the most accurate for the bullet in the previous manual. I find damage acceptable. [ 09-26-2003, 15:28: Message edited by: 1894 ]

Sounds like something I might look into. I'm looking for a light bullet with good precision. Anybody tried the 120 gr BT?

Here are my120 gr Nosler BT MAX loads for the 6.5X55 in my CZ 550, 24 inch bbl: W760: 45.0 grs 3.040 COL, 2938 fps. H4350: 49.0 grs 3.060 COL, 3008 fps R19: 50.0 grs, 3.010 COL, 3064 fps. All loads use Win large rifle primers. Note that the 129 gr Hornady generally shoots to the same velocity at the same pressure and very closely duplicates the 130 gr 270 Win from a 22 inch bbl.

quote:Herr Wachtel: I also use the 120 grain Ballistic tips. That load has its best accuracy with IMR 4064, RL 15, IMR 4895 out of my rifles. 4064 and RL 15 are my choices. RL 15 is made in Sweden there. Max velocity I get with that bullet is 44 grains of W 748 and a mag primer. In a 26 inch rebarelled Winchester Featherweight, the Velocity is 3250 fps. I use Winchester brass on this, and do not know how it compares to Norma which I am sure you use in Sweden. That load was from out of an older load manual I found, so if you do try it, work it up. Accuracy is not fair to say out of this rifle. It has a PacNor barrel done by Kevin Wyatt of Medford Oregon. Anything down the bore has been real accurate in this rifle. Good luck

After some load development i have settled on N160 51 grs 3200fps from a 23 inch barrel. 1/2 inch at 100 yrds.
