Looking for a good replacement or substitute for blue dot in my 8 bore DR cartridge gun. Blue dot has been difficult to get for a while now.

Probably AA#7. It's pretty dirty though....at least in a hand gun.

If you can handle a hair slower, I would go with VV N105 instead.

If not AA 7 on stock, look for Lovex D037.1. It is sold in USA as Shooters World Major Pistol.

(Explosia, Czech Republic, today maker of Lovex powders, made powders in the past for Accurate, so their D037.1 is simply clone or so of AA 7)

VV N105 as Tony said, maybe VV 3N38 too. From my experience Vectan SP2 and also Reload Swiss RS24 you can try.

Not much Lovex here in Texas.

Alliant Steel is very similar to Bluedot. I have used both for the 10 ga. shotgun. It is probably as hard to find as Bluedot, though, but you never know what you can find.
I would think that load development for an 8 bore dr. could be a serious chore.
