Hi Terry.

AA4064 is superb in any application where you'd use the IMR version (the 7-08 and 308 are where I use it the most). Its grains are shorter and meter much better than IMR, and, until their prices jumped a good bit lately, it was a fair amount less than IMR. Natchez's latest flyer shows it costing more than IMR, so, economy isn't the reason to use it any more.

Still haven't found an instance where 2700 shines. I got 8# of it (when it was dirt cheap) a few years ago from Natchez, and, I've tried it in the 7-08, 7x57 and just recently in a 300WSM, and it just doesn't seem to work better than the preferred powders in those calibers (A4064, H4350, W760/H414 in the 7-08; H4350 in 7x57; W760 in 300 WSM). I'm still looking, tho..., hate to waste my time/money, y'know

I also bought up a pile of 2700 several years ago, but I did find a great use for it. I use it in my Sako 243 over 80 grain Sierras or 87 grain hornadys at max loadings and it shoots in the 3/4 inch range all day long. 2700 is very similar to H414 and is useful in most loadings that H414 will work in. THAT is not to say the data is interchangable-IT'S NOT!!! Just saying if a round has a good load with H414, you can probably find a good load with 2700 also.

regards,
Graycg

One of my shooting partners and I each bought 8 lbs. of aa4064 and have been playing with it for maybe a year.
It's performed as good as any of the old standbies when used in the ; 22-250, 243, 257 Roberts, 270, 30-06,
358x404 Imp. and 308. Roger

I have found that Accurate 4064 to burn slower than the IMR. A call to Accurate confirmed this, they said it was closer to 4320, just follow the data, and work up.

Off the subject a little but I got some AA4350 abouta year ago--it is really slow--same powder charge of that vrs hogdon 4350 in my '06 is 150 fps slower. By the time I figure out how high I can go with it the savings sure weren't worth it.
