Anyone had a problem with Redding dies? I have set that won't hold the bullets tight enough. You can pull the bullets with your fingers.

Return the dies to Redding with an explanation of your troubles. They're a good outfit and should treat you right. I have a few Redding dies and no complaints at all! /////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// "Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance, and the gospel of envy, its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery." It sounds like your expander is oversize. Either return to Redding, or measure the expander diameter. If too large, polish down below bullet diameter (e.g. .002"-003" below bullet diameter for rounds like .222 and .223, .004"-.005" for big game rounds, perhaps). - mike ********************* The rifle is a noble weapon... while this is possible the more likely failure is: 1. The die is worn to the point the neck is not sized small enough 2. One is not using the correct size bullet eg. (using a .308 bullet instead of a .311 bullet) 3. At some time in the past the necks of your cases were turned and now you don't get the correct inside diameter before the expander nipple expands the neck If one has tools to measure these features he can make decisions on his own and might save the time and shipping of returning the dies. It is quite rare to find a sizing die that is worn out or was made incorrectly from the factory.......but it can happen and does! /////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// "Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance, and the gospel of envy, its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery." I found the problem. This guys rifle has so much leade that you have to seat the bullets out so far they don't get a good grip on the inside of the case. The dies mike good. These bullets have a half thou. taper from the ogive to the boatail and with them being seated out so far it makes them a little loose. I guess he will have to have the barrel taken off and the leade shortened to make this thing shoot. Thanks for your help guys.
