Tried some of this new magnum pistol powder in my Ruger SBH .44 Magnum with 10 1/2-inch barrel, and I am impressed. I was shooting with open sights off a rest at 25 yards, 25.0 grains 300 MP, Starline brass, Federal 150 primer and Hornady 240-grain XTP. My best group was 1.1 inches with three holes touching; the other was just a smidge bigger but with four holes touching. Next range visit I will bring the chronograph. This powder outshot my usual load of 24 grains 296.

Without chronograph data it is hard to say, but it sounds like it is very much in the range of Hodgdon's Lil Gun. Have you tried that powder? Although I (seemingly in the minority) don't care at all for Lil Gun in a Hornet, it does do well for me in magnum handguns. I'm curious if this new Alliant 300 MP will also work in small rifle calibers?
