Ever since Remington announced they'd be offering the New Sendero SFII chambered in 264 Win Mag, I've been looking foward to buying one but, I'm begining to think it's just not justifiable. Of course it would be nice to have an oldie but, what has me wondering is the Ballistics and components. One thing is Forester doesn't make their bench rest dies for the 264. Redding is the only die I would feel comfortable going w/ although it would be nice if Lee had a collet die for the cart. Brass and bullets can be had for sure but if I wanted to pick anything up locally, I'd be out of luck. Then, you have the Ballistics. I find it no better than a stout 270 and not quite up to par w/ a 7RM. I'm most likely still going to pick up one of the new SFII (already purchased the 6-18FD Leupie and DD mounts) but, now I'm thinking I may be better served w/ the good Ole' 7RM. I also have a pile of equip and components for the 7RM. What would you fellas choose? the 264 or 7RM Already have a 1/2 MOA 7 that I just love to hunt w/. I don't think it will hurt to have another around. Reloader

There is a noticable 6.5 crowd that Remington is appealing to with the 264. It is everything someone may desire in a 6.5. Problem is with bullets. 140 grainers are kinda the top end of high BC control expansion projectiles for the caliber. Considering the 7Mag, it takes you to 175 grainers. Just my opinion but the 7 Rem Mag is about as versitile as it gets for North America. I would take on anything except for the biggest bears with the right projectile from a 7 Rem Mag. Free men should not be subjected to permits, paperwork and taxation in order to carry any firearm. NRA Benefactor

The 264 Mag in fact has nothing over the 270. That said the 6.5-06 is also a terrific cartridge.....but I'm not into wildcats much /////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// "Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance, and the gospel of envy, its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery." I have heard that the 264 Win. Mag. is a real "barrel burner." That would rule it out for me.
