375 Ruger SLOW with IMR-4350 and 20" Bbl
It's no faster than my 375/284 and that's got a much smaller case and a 23" barrel. I'm using top loads of IMR-4350 and getting 2550 fps from my Alaskan with 270 gr Hornadies and Fed 215 primers
Here's the question. I'm aware of velocity loss with the shorter barrel, but if I go with a faster (recommended) powder, would it make a difference? On the Realguns website, (with 260 gr and 300 gr bullets) they show IMR-4895 and 3031. They're the 2 fastest powders shown. Could I recoup a little more velocity in my shorter barrel with either of these?
The Alaskan has a visible flash from the barrel on a sunny day. Don't think this should be that noticable.

Work your way up to it safely but I am getting 2800 fps with 270 grain Swift A-frames. My load is 73.5 grains of IMR 4895, Fed 215.

This is in a 375 Ruger AFRICAN.
