Does anybody have some favorite loads for 7TCU? I just got a 10" barrel and am waiting on the dies. I have on hand some H335 and IMR4064 and IMR4350 as well as some Blue Dot. I plan on using Nosler 120g Ballistic Tips first. Do I need another powder or can I use one of these? Steve had some data on his site for H335 that I plan to start with. Any other suggestions?

I'd try faster powders on a 10" barrel to cut down your muzzle blast and wasted powder. I use IMR 4895 in an 18" carbine with a Speer 115gr HP or the Sierra 120gr SP and it is almost too slow for that barrel. Maybe H322 or N130 for a 10"

back in the early 80's i was shooting handgun silhoutte with the 7mm tcu. for the turkey, chicken and pigs i used 120 gr bullets. for the 200 meter rams i used 130 gr hpbtm.

my pistol performed best with accurate 2460 and was what the sierra manual had recommeded at that time.

sierra's 130gr spitzer worked great on deer out to 125 yds also. i did all my shooting with a 14 inch barrel.

PLEASE EXCUSE CAPS, HANDICAPPED TYPIST.

IT'S OK......I'VE STARTED UP MY MEDS AGAIN. THEY SHOULD TAKE EFFECT IN ABOUT A WEEK. (STACI-2006)

Gator, Low Rider 49 is absolutely correct! You need a faster RIFLE powder for your 10" 7mmTCU.

I had a 10" 7mm TCU and it liked IMR-4198 with bullets in the 120gr. range. It did not like the slower powders! Velocity was unimpressive (1850 fps?) but it was accurate as hell!

I sold that 10" and bought a 14" 7mm TCU barrel thinking I needed more velocity. But, I have never been able to equal the accuracy of that 10" barrel! Mad

26gr H335 and the 139gr Horn flatbase bullet was my silh load for awhile in the 10" TCU.

Blast, noise, sure. Not a hunting load (probably wouldn't open at those velocities) but very very accurate in 4 different bbls.

Start around 20 or 22gr, work up slow. Also I seated mine very long (you didn't mention if yours was a factory bbl, if so you can seat the hornady 139 to around 2.700" oal).

Have fun.

In my 10" I used H-322 and AA2230 with 120gr bullets for all my hunting and plinking. About 2000-2100fps is about all you can get out of a 10". Still good enoough for deer out to about 150yds if you can do your part. I now have a 10" a 14" and a 21" carbine in 7-tcu. I like it!!

I'm also one of those old MS shooters. I like H322 & W748 for bullets from 120-145.
