I'm a bit on the "can't budge me" side and have been using 7828 for my big boys for a long time. Came into a great buy 5Lbs. 7828 SCC for $50.00! Everyone tells me it's the same thing, use it just as I have been, only difference is much smaller sticks. Your comments......

Same burn characteristics. I use 7828 in my 280, 7Dakota & 260. Went to the 7828ssc to get less compression in the 260. It gives almost identical vel readings. My fav. magnum powder.

From the Hodgdon website.....
quote:
IMR-7828 SSC: This magnum rifle powder has exactly the same burn rate as standard IMR 7828 and uses the same data. However, due to the super short kernels, metering is virtually as good as a spherical powder. This allows up to 4% more powder space in the case and in many loads yields more velocity than standard 7828. Such loads are marked with an asterisk in the data to show where standard 7828 will not fit.

It worked the same for me too in my wby's. I wish I could get more but no one here seems to be able to get it.
My 300 win tikka likes about 86 grains under a 130ttsx for a screaming 3560fps. Shoots 5 shots under 2" at 200 yds consistantly.
If you want a slow powder but don't have alot of case capacity this is good stuff.
