Sodbuster 49, I cut and pasted the data below from hodgdonreloding.com. But let me caution that someone else's date may not be right or safe for your gun. Standard procedure is to consult one, or preferably several, reloading manuals and work up from minimum loads.

I've never heard of WC 749; is it a new surplus powder on the market? WC 844, WC 846, WC852, WC860, WC 867, and WC872 are the ones I'm aware of offhand, although I'm sure there are others. But 749 is not a familiar number to me in these powders.

IF you mean Winchester 748 and the Hornady 168 grain bullet, I can find no one that recommends it. Nosler does not for their 168 grain and even Hodgdon that distributes 748 does not show listings for it with 168 grain bullets in the 308.

Not trying to be a dick, but be careful what you post.
I would enjoy seeing someone shoot 42 gains of titegroup out of a 308, but they would need to be in laws. Smiler
That would be a stick of dynamite

nobody said that WC 749 is the same as Winchester 748. Surplus powder is lot to lot and whatever you load is on you friend. You might find happiness with working up with WC 749 and you might not.
