I cant make up my mind on what bullet to shoot outof a22-250 AI that im going to build in 3 months. Its manly going to be used for prairie dog shooting. I going to use berger 52gr moly or berger 70gr VLD. i was thinking about going with the more accurate 70gr vld. i have used the 52gr for 2 years now and have had good luck with them. So im stuck on what to us. I would relly love to hear some input from u all. thanks

Good to decide what bullet to shoot before you order a barrel...the bullet you want may change your decision as to what twist to buy. You have not ordered a barrel yet I assume?

Actually there are no bad bullets for the 22-250. The competition for accurate bullets is very keen...and you almost can't go wrong....

My personal favorite is a 50 grain TNT....you may decide for a heavier bullet however...just make sure you keep your twist rate in mind before you order that barrel.

Vapodog: sorry didnt give enough info. Yes i havent not ordered a barrel yet. It will be going on my etronx.(makeing it a 22-250AI) then im going to build another 22-250AI. As soon as i can make my mind up about what bullet to shoot. then ill start makeing my mind up on the twist how long to make the barrel what trigger im going to use ect.(the only thing im going to do the etronx is put a diffrent barrel on it)

Building a rifle with a specific bullet in mind may not work out. Some rifles just don't "like" some bullets (no matter whether their twist/weights match or not). I've always ended up seaching among bullets for the one that shoots best in a particular gun. Just make sure that there is something similar to the bullet that you would "prefer" so that if it refuses to shoot in your gun you will have some viable alternatives.

Stonecreek: ill keep that in mind. If i go with luts say 1-9 twist. Will it still shoot luts say a 40-50gr bullet?

You'll have no problems shooting that size bullet out of a 9" twist. Worst thing that can happen is they might disintigrate if fired at too high a velocity, if so then just back off the powder. However, that has never happened to me with a 223.

You might want to try 69 gr Sierras HPBT Match #1380
