I'd actually recommend a cheaper chrono over an expensive one.

And even then NEVER let someone else shoot through it.

"Chronograph sudden death syndrome."

Caused by the inexperienced forgetting that their line of sight is 2" above their muzzle.

that's hilarious and makes sense!!!

My dad once removed an expensive paint job from the hood of his truck because the crosshairs didn't tell the real story of where the barrel was.

Sorry man, you now a days you have to weed through the 'greater-than-thou' and jerry senfield's to get any answers. Truth is, IMHO, you can get good information from a chrony. Get that ES down and you should see smaller groups if your doing your part. I have a shootingchrony. I dont think thats the best unit by far. But its all about compairing apples to apples. right?

Some have more whistles and bells and cost more but the basic job they all do is tell you how fast your bullet is going. The rest you can do with a pencil and paper.
You can get a re-furbed Chrony for under $100.

You can get a brand spanking new F1 Master with the remote digital display that sits on the shooting bench for well under $100 if you do a wise little shopping.
