Which is a good powder to use in the AR-15 for varmint loads. I wanted to try the H335 but heard it was filthy. Any Suggestions. Thanks Esox357.

Esox357, A lot depends upon what bullet you would choose to shoot. The H335 is a standard for the caliber/action you mention for accuracy and velocity. Other powders which work well are the stick style in similiar burning rates. Varget, R15, IMR 4895, H4895 etc should all meet your needs.

If I remember correctly BL-C(2) was loaded in the 5.56 Nato because of gas fouling issues with other powders.

I use 25gr of H-335 with 52gr Sierra HPBT MK for my reduced course match load. I thoroughly clean the rifle every 10 matches whether it needs it or not.

This is not a max load, but I don't consider the amount of carbon in the reciever to be excessive. But then again, I've never been able to understand the complaints about the design dumping gas and residue in the reciever either.

We have had excellent results using Ramshot Tac with the heavier bullets 77-80 gr. and with Varget. We are in the middle of a lot of accuracy testing using Sierra and Nosler bullets. The edge right now is held by Sierra 77s with 23.7 grs of Tac for distances out to 500-600yds.

Is spherical powder bad on the AR gas system? I might give Tac a try or varget. I want to stay witht the 50-55 grain range bullets in my AR. Thanks for the info. Esox357.
