New to the forum and first time re-loader.
I purchased the RCBS Trim Pro but cannot seem to use the #43 shell holder for the 270 WSM. Has anyone else had this problem?
Thanks, really enjoy reading some of the different posts.

The #43 works fine for my .270 WSM. Is your problem with all brass or just a few. If you are using Winchester Brass or cartridges and having a problem will all of them, try another #43 and see if the problem is with the shellholder. I also can use the same shellholder that fits my .338 Lapua, which I don't remember the number of at the moment. wave Good luck and good shooting.

Once again, "first timer". It will go, but
I have to force the case into the holder. Never done this before so I am afraid of case damage.
Thanks for the reply.

Cashflow ----- Do you have to force all the cases in the shellholder, or only the occasional one. For one particular brand of brass, which will remain nameless, I sometimes have at least one or two cases that will be hard to get into the shellholder. This brass is not WSM brass and is not just one chambering, but several. That to me is just shoddy brass and quality control. Once again, if you are having a problem will all cases, it may be your shellholder that has the problem. Get another #43 and try it to see what the result is. wave Good luck and good shooting.

Wow, I now understand. I just tried six that will not enter. The other brand works mostly well. I may need to rotate a little to coax it in, but mostly, no problem.
One more question:
Do I need to purchase another brand of case trimmer for the other brass? Do I simply discard the brass and move on?
Should I trim the cases to exact 2.100 or is a little less, better.
Thanks again for all of the help.
I'm sure that I will have more questions.

Cashflow ----- Any case trimmer should do all your trimming. Personaly I like the Lyman Universal trimmer because of the universal chuck the fits all case heads. ----- Back to the shellholder, nothing pisses me off more than to have one or two cases out of a box that are very tight in the shell holder, because then I have an incomplete box of ammo or grab another case somewhere else, which will always be the odd wad case. Yep, I know it is nit picking, but I guess that is why we reload in the first place. I like Lapua, Norma then Winchester brass, IMO from there it goes downhill. wave Good shooting.

I have problems with Winchester brass fitting in #43 shellholders on my Lee Auto Prime. I would say probably about 50% exhibit this problem. That particular lot of brass has multiple problems I've never seen before using Rem brass in other calibers.

Trim down to 2.090

2.100 is max length.

Shellholders will occasionally have a burr or need to be 'opened up' a touch. Sinclair actually does this for you on shellholders for one or maybe two of their tools, their primer maybe?... at any rate I had one shellholder (RCBS) which was really tight on some of my 270 Win brass, and I had another shellholder same model and also RCBS which was smooth as butter. I took a small triangle file, and more or less polished up the edges of the tight shellholder a bit and never a hitch since!

Good Luck--Don
