Not being a big believer in advertising hype..what do you guys think? Mainly I am reloading 38sp handgun loads and 7mm rem magnum rifle loads.
I am using a lee set-up with regular lee pistol dies and a lee rifle collet neck sizing die that lee claims eliminates the need to lube your shell.
In either the handgun loads..or with this lee collet rifle neck sizing die, are they pulling my leg or do you still need to lube up your shells first?
Also, has anybody tried the spray-on lube, where instead of hand wiping the shells, you just spray the outside of a whole tray??
Thanks again guys!

If you are talking about Lees Carbide pistol dies then the answer is No lube required. Since the collet die is only sizing the neck you shouldn't need lube as well. I don't have their die but on my neck sizers I will wipe a touch of lube on about every 5 case.

I tried the spray lube one bottle worth. I had trouble getting the right amount where I wanted it. Operator error? On full length sizing of rifle case I hand lube. A little goes a long way. All my pistols are carbide sizers

As usual just my $.02

I don't lube case going into the neck sizer, but I guarantee your pistol rounds will stick very quickly if the case aren't lubed or you are using carbide type dies.

Absolutely no lube for the collet die.

Lube your cases for the resizing phase in non-carbide (regular steel) pistol dies.

Spray lube is fine if you want everything in the room lubed. Otherwise, carefully apply your lube sparingly with either the fingers or a lube-soaked ink pad. Imperial Sizing Die Wax is the very best, and it is applied with fingers only.

Yep, you got it right. No lube for the Carbides and no lube for the collet dies.

Good Luck!

For carbide dies...no lube REQUIRED...BUT...

I find that if I put a small drop of lube on the fingers I use to feed the press, thereby getting a tiny amount onto part of each case, the whole sizing operation goes much smoother. If done properly there will not be a detectable amount of lube left on the cases either...no more than if you had fully lubed and wiped it off anyway.

Believe nothing, no matter where you read it, or who said it, unless it agrees with your own reason and your own common sense.
