H4831 the best stuff for a .270 that there is. 60 grs. is a great 130 gr bullet hunting load, but you may want to back off for your daughter.

I think this is what you're looking for.

Youth loads.

The 13th Speer manual lists 20.0 to 24.0 grains of SR 4759, for velocities between 1650 and 2000 fps. I suspect that if anywhere in there is a reasonably accurate load it would be just the ticket for starting a young lady on the road. Best of luck...

My practice load was 42.0 grains of IMR 3031 and any 130 grain bullet. Light recoil and very accurate. I also used 44 grains od IMR 4895 at times.

4895 has always given good accuracy when loading light, start about 35gr.

cheers You have had a lot of good input. Another load that is mild yet would be good for deer in your area out to 100 yards plus would be the 130 gr. bullet with 30.5 gr.of 4198 at 2250fps. thumbroger

Perhaps Seafire has a Blue Dot load for a .270 win. I have tried it in my .338 and it works great.

I stumbled across this load on an internet forum a while back. My 270 really loves it, and it's very pleasant to shoot:

"accuracy load" for the 270 Winchester using a 130 grain bullet to be 43.5 grains of IMR4064 powder which yields 2724 fps with 39,000 C.U.P.

30 grains of IMR 4198 is always a good download recommendation in a 30/06 sized case....

As Scout Master 54 recommended Blue Dot:

Here is the following load data that I have immediately on hand....

110 grain Hornady V Max:

20 grains: 2196 fps
21 grains: 2232 fps
22 grains: 2302 fps
23 grains: 2419 fps
24 grains: 2447 fps...

At 21 grains.. If a zero is set at 3.5 inches high at 100 yds, it will be dead on at 200 yds and be about 3.5 to 4 inches low at about 240 yds...Plenty good for deer hunting when most are taken within 100 yds or less....

130 grain Sierra SP

20 grains: 2092 fps
21 grains: 2117 fps
22 grains: 2153 fps
23 grains: 2181 fps
24 grains: 2237 fps....

Recoil will be about 50 to 60 % less than factory loads....

Both of these loads are more than lethal at 200 yds on any type of deer.... blacktail, whitetail... antelope etc....

No filler needed and always work up... just to be safe.. but these proved very safe in my rifles...

cheers

Aadams,

kinda depends on how much shooting she's done before, and what cartridges she's already fired...

If you want to really put the Little Lady off hunting, use a full house 130g hunting load as her first experience...

Personally, I'd go with Hodgon's reduced loads... 110 g bullets and all....
