H BL C2 ???
H BL C2 powder gets a lot of press and provides high velocities for .223.

Who makes this stuff?

Is it extruded rifle powder?

Any other comments, especially for loading 55 gr. and 69 gr. match .223 loads? How does it work in an AR?

Thanks

It's Hodgdon Ball-C, #2. Usually given as BL-C(2) or BLC-2. It's a ball-type, not an extruded powder. I don't know who makes it for Hodgdon, but my guess is Olin (Winchester).

Used bl-c2 for years, works well, but now am having better luck with 2230 - shot mostly 52-53 grain bullets, use a hot load. Good Luck

Powder Burns,
Western Ball, Type C was military surplus sold to Bruce Hodgden after WWII. (The big one that got in all the papers)
When that ran out I believe Hodgden contracted to have some more made up. (Lot #2)

Yes it was a Military powder last used in the 308 win M118 Sniper round before IMR 4895.

Three of us in the club bought 50 lbs and split it three ways. One guy blew a primer right a way and since it was my idea I had to buy it back from him. Soon primers were falling out of my cases as the data was wrong. Mine may have been lot #1. I think it cost us about $.55 a pound.

I still have some left but most of it is used up in the .222. It's a dirty powder. Good ridance.
