I've been reloading for my 270 with Hornady 130 gr Interlocks. Best place to start with the same powder, or is the 130 gr SST bullet different enough that it's likely to be like starting all over again?

Thanks for the response. Didn't make my self clear, yes I know to back off and work up again. What I was wondering was, did the same powder that worked with an Interlock work with the SST?

Dave

Super glad to hear your enthusiasm for the SST!

I shoot the SST in my 270 with great success (very accurate)and I have heard they perform well on game. Load as you do with the Interlock and you will be fine, start 2grs low. I use H4831sc & IMR4350.

Took a medium sized doe (broadside classic) at 230 long paces and she dropped at the shot. Terminal performance was devestating. Really tore things up.

Used the 7mm 139 gr SST bullet in a 7mm WBY this fall.Muzzle velocity was close to 3400fps from a 26 in barrel.Took a 4 pt buck high in the lungs @250-260 yds.He never took another step. I'll use them again. Looking forward to trying the 154 gr SST. They seem to be hard to find in Canada right now.
