Quickload indicates 74gr RL22 will give you 2870 fps, and 62317 lbs-psi with a COL of 3.34" and 26" barrel.

As always, back off a few grains and work up.

I have got to admit as having pushed it farther than Montana Marine's listed load.

My usual load with a 220 grain Round Nose is 83 grains of H 1000 that I saw in an old reload manual at some gun shop one time. The book was not for sale./

Got home and tried it. Definitely a flat shooter, even with a Round Nose to 300yds. Chronographed velocity out of a Browning A bolt with a 26 inch barrel was 2975 to 2980.

When it hits the gongs at 300 yds, it still makes quite the '"clang."!

Holy Toledo, Seafire!

You must have a very generous rifle. I was blowing primers with 82 grains of H1000 and 180-grain bullets.
