I just got mine back from a correction to a feeding problem.....wow it feeds like it's supposed to

So it's time to head to the range when the weather breaks and cools some.

I was at Hodgdon's website and they only list the TSX in a 250 grain bullet load but I'm pretty adamant about using the accubond.....I'm shooting a M-98 that has been professionally heat treated and have no problem pushing the 60,000 PSI mark.

It seems varget is a fine choice for this cartridge and bullet...others as well.....I have most powders on the shelf!

What's the experiences from others on this?

The 250 gr. Accubond; great bullet in a 9.3x62.

My experience has been that pretty much any reasonable powder has provided clover-leaves (3-shot groups) at 100 meters.

IMR-4320, IMR-4064, H-4895, H-4350, VVN-140; all have worked well; I use VVN-140 with the 250 gr. Accubond and my carefully hoarded stash of remaining of Nolser 250 gr. Ballistic Tips.

Have Fun.

Cheers,

RL-15 and Ramshot Big Game work well in mine with 286's. Varget or RL-15 would probably work well with the 250.

Is anyone getting 2,600 FPS on this 250 accubond?....Hodgdon doesn't show anything close to it and it seems like one should be getting something faster than a 270 grain load and Hodgdon lists that at 2,550 or so...

John Barsness loads the 250 Accubond with 60.5 Varget or 62 R15. He gets 2600 fps+ from a 23" barrel.

Vapodog My old Husqvarna likes the 250 gr Nosler Accubond. Both 4320 and RL15 grouped well but the 4320 is the best in my rifle. Max in my rifle is about 59 grs but 57 grs groups the best and averages 2515fps. Great combination on moose and elk in heavy bush.

One new powder from Alliant that is perfect for the 9.3x62 is the Power Pro 2000 MR. Same burning rate or slightly slower than RL-15, but much better load density as it's a sperical powder. You should easily get 2600 fps with a 250 grainer.

Now wee cookin....this gives me the 2-0-8-2-4 trajectory i'm used to....and still more than 1500 ft-lb energy at 500 yds.....it makes this gal a great long range performer

Been using 57 grains of Varget for quite a while, seems to work pretty well in full stock CZ pushing the Accubonds. Picked up another 9.3 this winter with a 23 inch barrel, got a little load ladder test batch made up to see what this one likes.
Tryna find time to get to the range seems to be the biggest problem. That, and I finally broke down and got a little Marlin 30-30, so I,ve had a few diversions..

RL15 sposed to be a pretty good powder for the 9.3, have some of those loaded up as well.

Flip a coin, either one oughta work pretty well. The Varget is supposed to be just a bit less temp sensitive than the RL15..

Can't give you any real hands on with the 9.3 with the 250 accubond. But using my 380PDK and a 260 Accubond results of the powders I tested H414 gave the highest velocity followed by IMR 4831 and RL 15. Less than 50 FPS difference between them. RL15 gave me the best accuracy. Looking at QL and the 9.3 250gr it ranks the order the same with about the same difference in velocity. Using 60,000 max QL give the max velocity as 2666-2700fps. The program also sticks RL17 in the mix.

As usual just my $.02

Awesome.....go to this ballistics chart and key in a BC of .484 and a -0- range of 200 and a velocity of 2700 and a weight 250 and diameter .366

Now that fits the 2-0-8-2-4 like a glove.....and still has almost 2,000 ft-lb energy left at 500 yards. This isn't likely going to happen with my rifle but it's something to work for.....2650 would be great too!

I'm shooting 60 grains of Varget with 250 grain Accubonds, Lapua brass, and 210M primers out of a 20" barreled Blaser R8 and I'm getting 2500 fps.

I have shared my 9.3X62 info with heaps of people here. PM me your email ID & I'll send you the stuff.

I use 61gr Varget with 250 Gr Varget (sorry edited - that should read Noslet BT old green tip) & TSX and get max 2570 with 24 inch barrel in my Oberndorf Simson.

This is mild load with no case stretching / no trimming required after 4 firings.

Very accurate.

I know I can go a grain more but there is no real need as I am NOT looking for real long range flat shooting.

I also get good accuracy with H4350 & VV N150 & N160. I find Re 15 a bit fast (but it seems to be a standard powder according many sources.)

I even get top accuracy with ADI's AR 2206 (old type) which has been replaced by the new IMR 3031 I think (repackaged for sale in the US).
