bartscheSpace Reloading ???

I wonder how hard it would be to reload in outer space?? Think about it!

hivelosityno gravity?
it would be easy to spot things you drop, it would be floating around.

richjDon't know how hard it would be but I'm betting my electronic scale still won't work right.

RapidrobAs long as your vessel had earth rated artificial gravity, you'd be good to go.
You could use a known volume device and use tested loads.
Keeping the powder grains from flying around if in zero gravity would be a chore.

SR4759No problema.
use a small vacuum device to connect to the case head. Vacuum the powder into the case and seat the bullet. Then prime

craigsterJust think of the velocity and the range you'd get with one popped off in a vacuum with zero gravity. Laser like, I'd guess.

CoyoteKiller82There isn't any O2, so would the bullet not even fire??
Smokeless powder, as well as blackpowder or high explosives, all carry their own oxidants. A powder that relies on outside air would not do you any good, since significant amounts of air only become available after the bullet leaves the muzzle....

You might have a little problem with ball or short cut powder.Just a wild guess!!

azjohnPriming a loaded case sounds like an invitation to disaster, just in passing.

jeffeossoneat concept .. while we would have to change the process, the policies would remain intact ...
weight would change, but not mass or volume..
so, lee powder scoops for measuring powder
as, priming and placing a bullet are unchanged .. if you needed pseudo-gravity, just spin the "room" or the "press" , but a puff of air and a funnel would suffice for likely most things...
in fact, if you used positive pressure airflow with little imagination, you could have an air flow, vs gravity flow, progressive...

JohnDAnd I thought my wife was being unreasonable when she kicked my reloading bench out of the den and into the basement.

50X100Hummm. Paper cartridge? Long ago in a place far far away said the physics takes over. "For every action there is an equal and opposite action"
Need to think about it grasshopper.
