I am trying some VV170 powder in a 7mm-300 Weatherby with Berger 180 gr bullets. Has anyone used this powder in a similar application. Also how does its burning rate compare to H-1000, H870 or IMR 7828. A

tsiero. I have used it in my 7mmRem Mag and 338 Lapua Mag. It works very well with heavy bullets, clean burning. I have no experience with the other powders you mention, but N170 should be significantly slower than both H1000 and IMR7828. It should be one of the best in the large case small bore 7mm-300Wby. I haven't used it myself, but I understand that the burning rate of VV170 is between H1000 and that of charcoal briquettes...

Should be one of the best for your rifle, particularly with heavy bullets.
