To some people this may be old news but some of you may find it interesting. I worked up a load using Barnes XXX 150 grains for my sons Rem SPS 30-06. Load was 60 grains of H4350 and I didnt have time to chrono the load but suspected the velocity was 2900-3000 fps. Using this load on our local Blacktail deer produced the following results:
Deer #1: 60 yards, broadside, bullet completely exited and left a nice size hole. Deer traveled 10 yards.
Deer #2: 200 yards, only shot presented after watching for an hour was a quartering away shot. Son pulled the shot a little and he hit the bone in the left hind quarter. Bullet traveled on thru the body and we found it intact with all 4 petals folded out under the skin after it went thru the right shoulder. Very Impressive performace. I wanted to weigh the bullet but we managed to lose it during the course of the hunt.
Deer#3: 120 yards. Broadside classic lung shot, total penetration and deer dropped where he stood.
All the deer were mature bucks with a guesstimate live weight of approximately 150 pounds.

My biggest fear is when I die my wife will sell my guns for what I told her they cost.

I like the TSX bullets. I prefer them for heavier game at max speeds, but they seem to work great for you the way you use them!

I'd like to try some 150 gr. TSX's or even the 130's in my 30-06 Titanium

would be a serious deer bullet, as you have found out!

thanks for the post

I've got the 130 tsx cranking about 2950 out of my 20" BAR Carbine .308 with good accuracy. If there is such a thing as "shock" effect these buggers should create it and give that .308 a little more potency for our Wis whitetail hunting!
