Folks,

Does anyone have any near max load data on 180 gr Swifts with IMR-4350 for a 30-06?

I loaded some ammo for my friend and we are trying out in his Tikka this weekend:

3.340" length
Lapua brass
CCI #200 primers
180 gr Sciroccos
IMR-4350 @ 51.5, 52.2, and 53.5 grains

Looking for 2,700 fps even.

I'll let you know how things go. I was going to load some higher loads, but 53.5 was right at max capacity before compression.

Thanks. I have all that data (I have the universal reloading manuals by caliber - great resources) I know the bullets are close, but not exact to each other.

I figured 56.5 as max, but didn't load it.

Any Scirocco data?

BTW - the barrel is 22 7/16"

24 inch barrel

Min load 49.8 grains 2426 fps
max load 53.5 grains 2707 fps (95% load density)

Yep, got that load also. We'll see how it performs. Loaded 10 rounds to 53.5 grains. I can tell you that it is higher than 95% load density. And I'm running 3.34" COL!

Some manuals allow for 55-57 gr. of IMR 4350 with a 180 gr. bullet as max. Have you tried using a drop tube?

Nope. That's a good idea. I'm new to reloading and I researched your suggestions and found several videos showing side by side comparisons of rounds loaded with the same grains, but one loaded at the mouth, the other through a drop tube. There is a difference! Thanks!
