.30-06 Roundnose Loads Needed!

Presently I'm loading for my new .30-06 Rem 700 with a 3x9 Tasco scope [Frown] that I won at a casino in Nevada [Smile] Never thought I'd own that caliber!.

So, I thought I'd burn up some 30+ year old bullets of various weights and makes that are filling up a couple of old shoeboxes that were given to me. Now if only I could find some donated powder and primers then this shooting business would be real reasonable. [Big Grin]

To start with I'd like to use IMR 4895 or H4831 powder with CCI 200 primers. The bullets will be Hornady 150 gr. roundnose and 180 gr. roundnose. However, none of my newer reloading books show any data for these roundnose bullets. I guess I should have kept my old books!

Does anybody have published loads for these?
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Herb D just use the same starting loads you would use with the Hornady pointed bullets, and work your way up until you find the most accurate load.

Thanks N E 450 No2 but I was hoping to find someone who had an "old" reloading book that would show the loads for these.

For the 150's:
H-4831 From 55.0 grains to 61.5 grains
Winchester WLR Primer

IMR-4895 From 44.4 grains to 51.5 grains
Winchester WLR Primer

For the 180's:
H-4831 From 50.7 grains to 62.0 grains
Winchester WLR Primer

IMR-4895 From 38.0 grains to 47.5 grains
Winchester WLR Primer

As usual, start low and work-up. These loads should be okay with your CCI primers.

I have the Hornady Vol 2 (1978-fourth printing)
and it may or may not help? The notes at the bottom of both 150 and 180gr. state "These loads
may also be used with the 150gr (or 180gr) round
nose" In the 150 4895(but does not list maunfacture) 48.2/2800fps, 49.9/2900fps, 51.6/3000
fps and 53.4/3100fps@MAX for the 4831 it's
56.9/2700fps and 59.1/2800fps@MAX (only 2 loads?)
For the 180gr 4895 44.8/2500fps, 46.7/2600fps,
48.5/2700fps and 50.3/2800fps@MAX and then for the
4831 it's 53.8/2500fps, 55.7/2600fps and
57.6/2700fps@MAX hope this helps
This printing ran from june 1973 till july 1978,I
believe the powder would have heen Hodgdon?
Almost forgot The primers on all were FED 210
