I have been reloading for more years than I care to remember. But I always wanted to know if brass manufacturers made brass in different strengths. For Example the 308 has a max pressure of aprox 60k and the 7x57 has a max pressure of 51k and a 30-06 aprox 58k. The W.S.M. go to aprox 63k and so on. Is the brass made only to withstand the specs? (give or take 10%)
Or are they all the same.

I dont think they make it stronger for each type of shell " 30-30 308 " but say each brand has a differant softness to them, I think its Norma or Lapua that has about the softest brass, but for say a 30-30 is thinner than for a 308, for use with the higher PSI.

They all vary but the brunt of the pressure
seems to be in the web area if the brass is
built heavier in certain areas I would speculate that it is in the web.
This seems to be true in the old pistol cartridges rolled vs drawn?
No expert just blips of info I have run across.
