So im buildin now new rifle in caliber 45 blaser. And problem is reloading dies. Ofcourse RCBS make dies for that but dies cost here in Europe about 350 euros so that is too much.

But now im planing make dies of 45-70 dies. Cases lenght is allmost same and 45 blaser case is ongly bottle neck so is that possible make dies of those 45-70 dies. Is anyone experience of that.

If it was me, I would not bother with trying to modify dies for other calibers.

Dies for the 45 Blaser can be bought from http://www.ch4d.com/ - the price is listed at US$101.45 - plus shipping to Europe and possible costs for import (VAT etc). That still leaves you a good deal below the EURO 350 you quoted. Dies are freely exportable from the US.

Alternatively, and this is the first route I'd personally explore, would be to contact Hornady's Custom Die Department - try Lonnie Hummel lhummel@hornady.com, Lonnie acts as outside contact for that department. I would be surprised if Hornady could not build you a set of custom dies from a few fired cases and some bullets. Price would probably be in the $100-120 range - plus shipping.

The advantage of going the custom route, is that you can specify your die dimensions, in particular ensure the die inside neck diameter is such that you can size without an expander. This is a great die setup.

The disadvantage of the custom route, is that it can take a few months for your die to be manufactured.

There are other die manufacturers who offer the same custom service as Hornady does - I think Redding is one? I have only used Hornady, and the 8x64S die I got from them was 1'st class. They are currently building 9.3x62 dies for me (FL plus seater).

Buying dies in Europe is a joke (pricewise) as long as you can get dies shipped from the US for a fraction of the European cost.

So i all ready planing order those dies from CH4D and know them price. But ongly idea using those 45-70 dies is because those is allmost free here. And easy to get.

Those RCBS special caliber dies is absolutely too expensive here and that why i dont even think those. More than 200 euros for normal FL and seater dies is absolutely too much. Even that RCBS dies is good but never for that price.

And those custom dies from hornady and redding interested lot because local importer of those companys dont offer that possibility. And not even telling that is possible.

I have couple gunsmith makes special caliber dies but this caliber is standart caliber and i think is more easy get dies from shop.

But thanks of help mayby then best way is asking dies from hornady or redding. Because their guality i know but i havent never see CH4D dies what propably is good also.

And this project hole idea is interested to see is that possible get normal sako L579 feeding that cases and what kind accuracy it give. So more that 100-150 for dies isnt resonable prize in this project. And cheaper is better. Because propably this gun dont never working. But that i see later i hope its working.
