Does anybody have experience of using H 1000 in .300 Win Mag (not WSM). I am looking for suggestions for this powder for the 180 -200 grain bullet range. Components to be tried include:- W-W Brass; Barnes TSX 180; Sierra 200 grain and Fed #210GM and 215 primers. Thanks

Hey Jon T I just recently did an OCW string using H1000 with 200 gr Accubonds. Here are the pics so you can see the powder loads So, I'm going to load 78.5 gr and adjust the seating to see if I can get a consistant .5 MOA. The 78.7 was traveling about 2900 fps. ____________________________________ There are those who would misteach us that to stick in a rut is consistency - and a virtue, and that to climb out of the rut is inconsistency - and a vice. - Mark Twain | Chinese Proverb: When someone shares something of value with you and you benefit from it, you have a moral obligation to share it with others. ___________________________________

Jonathan, I've worked w/ it alittle. It's a good powder in the 300WM. I've tried it w/ 178 Amaxes and 190 MKs. One thing I will say is that you need to start several grains below max. My HB 700 maxes out a few grains before max book loads w/ H1000, yours may not. I found H1000 to be alittle faster burning than I expected. Good Luck Reloader

I use 76 grains of Reloader 19 and Barnes xxx in 150 grains. Very accurate and the bullet expands beautifully.

I've used this powder ( H1000) with the 190gr hornady SBT. 80grs H 1000.....CCI 250 . Accuracy is 1.280" at 100 yds, and vel is 3066ft/sec. Good load "300 Win mag loaded with a 250 gr Barnes made a good deer load". Elmer Keith

I shoot a lot of H-1000 powder with my 7mm STW, .257 Wby and .338 Lapua but my .300 Winnie kicks and screams when I shoot anything but RL-22 through it, it also feels the same way about Fed 210M primers. Good shooting. phurley

I shoot 83 grains of H 1000 in a 300 Winchester with all bullet weights from 190 to 220....It has proven very very accurate in my 'A Bolt' .... Very flat shooting, even with the 220 grain Round Nose... With the 220 grainers, it is a little over what is listed in Reload manuals.. so it is for informational purposes only....always work up.. etc etc etc... cheers

Gentlemen Thank you for the input, seems it is a powder that may or may not deliver, but one worthy of trying. I have received some info from Barnes presumably from their next Reloading Volume (4th) and which included data for both the TSX and MRX in 180 grains. In their tests it seems IMR 4831 came out tops for accuracy with the 180 grainers, using W-W brass, Fed #215 GM primers and a COAL of 3.340" IMR 4831 with 71 grains gave 2995 fps from a 24" tube. Top load with H1000 was 77 as listed for 2902 fps Rel 22 also figured well with 73 grains purportedly yielding 3009 fps. These are Barnes figures not mine, So I cannot vouch for pressures in individual cases, as ever approach charge weights from below max and work up with caution.
