WoW... Price sounds right!! Maybe you can turn around and sell it... and get something worth while. There are plenty of suckers out there that would think something like that was really neat.
Just a suggestion. Good luck.

SMALLFRY! I can not see why you have to put the guy down like that.He get's a good deal on a gun and want's to tell somebody. So he come's on here to give the good new's.Just because he bought a gun you don't like does not mean it give's you the right to put people down.I came on this forum to learn new thing's from people all over the world.I would never buy a 30-06 but just because someone has one I would'nt tell him to sell it and get something (WORTH WHILE) as you put it.But I guess there are plenty of people out there that think putting people down is REALLY NEAT.Have a nice day

Smallfry,
I have to agree. I've come close to e-mailing you several times for this very reason. Chill out a bit. We all have guns that other people would ask "why".

Hey smallfry. See the question mark. That means you don't have a clue. Just the scope w/o the mounts goes for $725 in the Sinclair catalog. Where are you from anyway? And in your opinion (seriously...I want to know) what would be a worthwhile gun? Maybe I can learn from someone as almighty as you.

Boyd and Ssleefl,
This is the best sight on the web, as far as I am concerned. Don't let other people influence your comments or suggestions. I have learned more here by asking "stupid" questions than anywhere else. This sight is what influenced me to have a big bore rifle built and I WILL go to Africa in the next few years, Lord willing. I have two 700's with Leupold LR scopes. That is one hell of a buy!!

ssleefl; You have accomplished what few mortals achieve in a lifetime, a really good deal at a gun show. Congratulations on your good fortune. Beware, now that you have this triumph under your belt the gun show gods may try to-no-will try to lure you into a bad deal. It's the way gun shows work. There will be a misanthropic little fellow looking for suckers and someone to insult, could it be---tinyfish? Who knows? The Shadow knows!

Hey ssleefl, A few years ago one of my buddies was occasionally raking me and my hunting rifles over the coals with a BOSS 270Win M70. Not all the time mind you, but often enough to be aggravating.

Finally decided it was time to smash all the foolishness and thought about what I'd need in order to do it.

Ended up with a 308Win M700VLS for $465 (just the rifle) and put a 6.5-20x 50mm VariX-III on it which was not FREE. Mine does not have the Target Knobs and is the 1" tube.

Looked through the various Component Manufactures Reloading Manuals to refresh my memory about Target Loads. Ahhhh yes, good old H380 and 168gr Sierra MatchKing Bullets (Part # 2200) seemed like a possibility that I'd had some Braggable luck with in my youth.

Moly coated my Sierras and JB Coumpounded the Bore for a few hundred strokes. Used Moly Grease in the barrel to pre-season it. Adjusted the Trigger to my liking.

Got 200 Fed Gold Medal (non-plated) cases and did a full case prep on all of them. Then segregated them by weight.

Picked a few that all weighed the same, eased some Fed-210Ms in the Primer Pocket, put a Minimum H380 load in, and Seated the Bullets so they were 0.010" "Into" the Lands.

First 5-shot group was in the 3s. Scrubbed the barrel and re-lubed. Next 5-shot group in the 4s. Scrubbed/lubed. 3s. Scrubbed/lubed. 4s.

Huuummmm, not bad at all for someone who just can't normally shoot that good anymore. Figured by the time I ran a couple of boxes of the Sierras through it, I could get plenty of FREE BBQ dinners and suppers.

That proved to be the case!

One top secret design feature of the M700V-series rifles (your Sendero is one) is that they come to you from the factory with SAAMI "Minimum" Chambers. Regular Dies will work just fine, but the rifle does deserve some top notch Redding's. The MIN Chamber enhances the accuracy potential and gives unbelievable case life.

So, if you do decide you want that "something worth while" that smallfry mentioned, you should be able to "WIN IT" IF you can find someone to shoot against you.

Good hunting and clean 1-shot kills, Hot Core

OOOOOOKKKKKKKKKK... I do apologize accepted or not, ssleefl. After reading my post it did occur to me that I was hard on you. It was purely motivated by my own tastes. Its not right of me to judge another mans likes, besides the world is better off with any rifle.

Boyd338 & Boltgun I apologize too the two of you also. I dont want you to run away... I wouldnt have anyone to pick on

Sometimes I feel like just speaking freely and wind up stepping on someones foot because of my own likes and dislikes.
illl try harder to behave.

Email me if you want to verbly abuse me.

SSL I say you put the rifle in a treasured spot on your rack and have a lot of fun shooting, and hunting , with it. It sounds like a little gem and the .308 win is a joy to reload for, congrats on a great deal.

I bought a 16 gauge Browning A-5 "Sweet-16" last year that was so old, in such great shape, matches my 12ga A-5 so well, and was so cheap, that I still chortle when I take it out and wipe it down.

A great sporting arm at a great price is one of life's joy's. Keep it and make sure its given to your grandson's grandson one day.......good shooting.........10

smallfry,

We are all free to express our tastes in rifles, but not by cutting someone else down. If you don't care for that type of rifle, fine, not my cup of tea either, but you don't need to pi** in his cup of tea!

In the history of this website, there has only been one other really nasty poster, well, he was a mental case, and Saeed finally ran him off, long story. I don't want to put you in the same boat as that guy, as some consider it the greatest of insults.

Anyhow, the forumn is for all to enjoy, just please be civilized in your exchanges.

Congratulations with a BARGAIN !!!
Heres another sucker joining in......
Ive done little hunting with the .308, but I shoot it a lot in my BRNO 601 and its a real pussycat. And besides I have been tooting the NATO equivalent in full auto service rifles for more years that I care to mention. Probably the best Infantry cartridge ever and a great hunting round. ENJOY your Sendero !!!

SS,

Apparently you are ONE fortunate/lucky guy. What do you think the winning pick 6 LOTTO numbers are for Wed?

Seriously.....You have a great rifle and scope at a bargain price, congtatulations on beating the odds.

I once picked up a mint Sako in .222 Rem from an AM radio "call in what you want or want to sell" type of local radio show. Was driving by the address when I heard it. All I did was activate the blinker, pull in and buy a great old Sako with a 6X Leupold for $220. That was in 1981 and haven't duplicated that feat since.

Try some 150 gr balistic tips, and use Noslers noted most accurate charge weight, as well as 1/2 gr under and over that charge. This charge is a few grains under max, but shoots extremely well, either seated .005" off for single loading, or seated to function through the magazene.

As far as posting photos, you have to use a photo service to create a web page with your photo. Once you have that, add to the body of your post [img] www.whatever.the.adress [img/]

The backslash in the last [img] might come in front of the text, I don't recall.
