I am new in reloading 270W. I wish to find a good load (fast and accurate) for my new RUGER 77 Ultralight. I have just tried W760 powder behind 130 g. Nosler BT, but at 51 g. I got flattened primers and "only" 2785 f.p.s.(Rem. cases and WLR primers), while Remington 130 g. Bronze point gave 2925 f.p.s. On Sierra and Speer manuals, max loads for W 760 are 53-54 g with 130 g. bullets. I ordered the last Nosler manual, but I have to wait some weeks to get it. Could anyone tell me the recommended loads for 130 g. BT on previous edition Nosler manual for 760W and Vith. N160.?(No other powder available) Every advice is welcome. Thanks!

Good news and bad news...

Nosler #4 doesn't list either powder with the 130's in the 270 win.

Good news: There is a factory load which I'll just about guarantee will shoot MOA or better in your new Ruger. And it costs only 11 bucks a box at Walmart! It's the Winchester factory Super-X Power Point 130 grain ammo. It comes in a silver box, and I've pretty much given up trying to beat this stuff with handloads. You should definitely try it. At the very least you'll have some excellent Winchester cases to replace the Remington brass with--but I'm betting you'll be very impressed with the performance of this factory ammo.

Perhaps others will give you some good information for the powders you have mentioned. Best of luck!

I`ve found my 270 gives me best results with powders slower then W760, R22 and IMR / H4831 work best, giving me well over 2900fps with no problems. N160 should work well also but I haven`t tried it and can`t say for sure.
That said, Vihtavuoris` 2nd edition list the 270 with N160 and the Rem 130 sp as follows;
Rem case
VV#68 primer
min load 51.6 gr N160 - 2778 fps
max load 55.5 gr n160 - 2969 fps
OAL 3.228 in
bbl lenght24.5"
You may find the Nosler bt to give a bit more pressure than the Rem 130sp so I`d be sure to work up.

N-160 From 51.5 grains to 55.5 grains with Winchester WLR Primer

W-760 From 46.7 grains to 55.5 grains with Winchester WLR Primer

But you would probably be much better off with RL-22 From 51.0 grains to 61.3 grains with Winchester WLR Primer.
