This is a funny answer considering.....

YES, the answer is NO lol .... It would not be too potent for indoor use or small edible game...

I even tested some down to 5 and 7 grains of Unique...with good results...

good luck,and cheers

Hi seafire
I didn't know that it was possible to reduce the loads so low to 7 grain? isn't any risk of second ignition with unique att 7 grain? because the lowest recommended load was 12 grain and it gives the same result of M1 carbine(not really an indoor load) Big Grin

Yes, there is always some treading into unknown territory doing lower velocity loads....Unique is a pistol powder so it should have easy ignition.. I am using Large rifle primers also.. which is a pretty high flame compared to a Pistol primer...

I have ran it down to 5 grains of Unique without a problem... but we all have to assume our own risks....

However, for my own personal use, I see a lot of utility in it...Now I have just have to get an opportunity to chronograph it and test it...

I was looking at some potential use with a 110 grain Sierra HP or a 110 grain V Max in a 30.06...

wonder if I can get away with "Poaching" a Few Neighborhood 'Pain in the fanny' cats with a light load like that....

I am investigating it, because I fail to see the reason behind a 300 Whisper cartridge... when you can do the same thing downloading a 308 or 30.06...

Seafire, I believe the whisper is all about which platform you use to shoot it from, and the platform of original choice was I believe the Colt AR in a supressed mode. By the way I appreciate the input on my Unique and the '06 question.

You're looking for 'Kissan aivastus' or 'Zimmerpatronen'.

In other words..... something that won't punch a hole or deform your typical .22 cal.
bullet trap.

Cheap way is to shoot round ball buck shot with fast pistol powder like Bullseye. 0 Buck works well in the .308 - .313" groove diameter.

Yep.... 0 Buck is about .32" in diameter. But with a round ball there is not much surface area in contact with the riflings and the lead is easily swaged down.

If you don't feel comfortable shooting .32" ball in your .30 caliber rifle, then Hornady makes a .310" round ball. Round ball loads will deliver good accuracy to about 25 yards.

You can also go with the .32-20 bullet (or .32 Mag.) Most .32-20s are sized to .312".

I suppose you could run these guys through a sizer if you wanted to bring them down to .310" or so.

It's not rocket science. Just use common sense.
