Among my X'Mas goodies was a RCBS Rock Chucker Master Reloading Kit. Being new to reloading, I didn't set the depth properly and broke my recapping pin and shaft during the first session. I wasn't exactly dead in the water as I have dies for other calibers. But I was very anxious in have the components replaced so that I can complete the process. I called RCBS Customer Service in Oroville, CA and finally get through the second day. One week later, I received my replacement parts. It was free of charge even though it was my error. RCBS stands behind their product and surely wins my business from this point on. While other manufacturer may do the same thing, but RCBS did it without asking questions (it was after all embarrassing from my point of view) and have the replacement parts in my hand in such a short time. It is RCBS from here on in. Danny Boy

I screwed up my 250 improved expander and decapped when I had a stuck case. I e-mailed them telling them that I was at fault, and would pay for the parts. The next day I had a e-mail that said parts were on the way and that it was on them, part of their warranty. It has made me think very well of their products. < !--color-->

I have had similarly positive experiences. I bent a rod on the RCBS crimp removal die and was sent a replacement free of charge. I also sent a die in to have a stuck case removed and received back a new die with a note explaining the original was damaged. That cost me $5 for shipping, not a bad deal in my opinion. You definitely buy a product for your lifetime when you buy RCBS.

Well, this is getting monotonous, but here goes... I dropped my RCBS 1010 reloading scale and the balance beam broke at the pivot. I have been using this scale continously for 17 years, so RCBS sure had not made any manufacturing errors in it! I emailed RCBS and asked to buy a new beam, but they replied that the entire scale must be re-calibrated if a new beam is installed. They gave me an authorization number and an address to mail the scale to for repairs -- no charge! Wait -- it gets better. After about 10 days, the scale was returned by *rush* courier service to me here in Sweden (and the waybill indicated that this cost them $US 35 if I recall correctly)! All of this with no charge whatsoever. I'm sure a happy customer, and I recommend them to all the guys that I have helped get into reloading. Now, if only RCBS could get around Lee's patent and make a copy of the Lee collet neck-sizing die! That is a great design, but would benenfit from RCBS's workmanship... jpb

At Xmas RCBS shipped me new parts for my 28yr old lube-sizer under warranty - no charge. Now I am going to ship to their service dept guys a litte memento of Australia - no charge! There are a lot of companies that could learn the "true meaning of customer" service from RCBS! Incidently the folks at the Pedersoli factory in Italy are just as obliging.

I have a set of 222 dies, must be years old as the decapping pins are the straight rather than the current top hat design on sale at Gunshops. I asked RCBS if the old design was available wanting to purchase some - what is your your address they said and posted 5 free of charge to the UK. Previously the handle came loose on my powder measure, the rivet was failing, the UK importer replaced it when I sent the broken one by return of post. RCBS service 100% in my experience!

That RCBS will replace defective or broken equipment is all well and good, but I have a problem with one of their dies that I don't think even they can fix. I bought a small-base .223 full-length sizing die and seater about five years ago. I resized thou-thou-thousands of cases with that die. I could just put them into the shellholder and slam 'em up into the die. Never had a problem. Then I stuck one. I set it aside and purchased another. The new one was nowhere near as easy to use. The decapping pin would not hit the flash hole but maybe 1/4th of the time. I had to use my fingers to guide the case to such a location that the pin would go into the hole. I broke several pins and bent three spindles ($9 each) along the way until I figgered this out. One day in these pages I made reference to my stuck case. A member said to send it to him. I did so and he got it out. I could hardly wait to begin once again using the die that had proved so good at its job. I put it into the press and it too was missing the flash hole. It turns out that the pin was not closely centered in the die. My only guess is that the replacement spindles I have bought might be slightly undersized and they don't center very well in the threads. So now I have to be very careful when resizing all my cases lest I damage my spindle and decapping pin. Really slows down the operation...

When you get a case up into the resizer (press ram at the top of the stroke) loosen the lock nut on the decapping spindle and retighten it. This will usually center the decapping pin and keep it there. Have gun- Will travel The value of a trophy is computed directly in terms of personal investment in its acquisition. Robert Ruark
CONGRATULATIONS. You've responded to a five-year-old post.
I guess the point is, that 5 years later, RCBS still sets the standard for customer service. They are, and have always been outstanding in their customer service. Bullets are pretty worthless. All they do is hang around waiting to get loaded.
